FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SANDOWN, N.H. – Merrimack Valley Roofing and Gutters LLC is recognizing recent CertainTeed education progress after Barry James documented passed CertainTeed Roofing Education Shingle Technology Test results, achieved the CertainTeed Master Craftsman Roofing Contractor – SAM 17th Edition result, earned the CertainTeed Modified Bitumen Master Craftsman Credential, and completed the CertainTeed Liquid-Applied Roofing Master Craftsman Credential with a perfect score of 33 out of 33, or 100%.

The Shingle Quality Specialist Program documentation includes a passed Shingle Technology Test submission completed on Monday, June 8, 2026, with a 92.5% score, followed by a June 12, 2026 result showing 38 out of 40, or 95%. The result screens confirmed that James passed and that the related certificate or fulfillment package would be mailed separately. James also completed the Master Craftsman Roofing Contractor – SAM 17th Edition result on Monday, June 8, 2026, with a score of 33 out of 35, or 94.3%, and the feedback said he is now a CertainTeed Master Craftsman Roofing Contractor with a certificate to be mailed shortly. He completed the Modified Bitumen Master Craftsman Credential on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, with a score of 68 out of 84, or 81%, and the result screen stated that a certificate would be mailed to support promotion of the credential. The Liquid-Applied Roofing Master Craftsman Credential was completed on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. Together, the results reflect focused technical knowledge across asphalt shingle systems, modified bitumen roofing, and liquid-applied roofing applications. CertainTeed's credential programs are designed to support professional contractors with training around product knowledge, installation quality, and roofing system performance.

A follow-up CertainTeed certificate of completion recognizes Barry James as a Master Craftsman Liquid-Applied Roofing Contractor after passing the Master Craftsman Liquid-Applied test in the Low-Slope Roofing Applicator's Manual for SMARTCOAT liquid-applied roof systems. The certificate is valid through June 9, 2028.

"A good roof depends on the details people do not always see from the ground," said James. "Training matters because nail placement, starter courses, flashing, ventilation, underlayment, and product-specific applications all affect the way a roof performs."

Merrimack Valley Roofing uses manufacturer education as part of its broader effort to provide homeowners and property owners with informed roof inspections, replacement planning, low-slope roof review, and practical recommendations for New England weather.
