A roof that usually gets done in a day.
We replace, repair, and maintain residential roofs across the Merrimack Valley, Southern New Hampshire, Northeast Massachusetts, and Southern Maine. Asphalt, metal, slate, rubber. New construction, full replacements, and repairs after the wind picks up.
We work the whole roof system, not just the shingle. Decking, ice and water shield, flashing, ventilation, ridge caps, gutters. Leaks usually start at flashing, valleys, or penetrations rather than the shingle field itself, so the inspection covers the whole assembly.
A foreman comes to the house, walks the roof, and puts the findings in writing. The estimate lists the materials, the timeline, and the warranty before anything gets scheduled. If a targeted repair is an option alongside a full replacement, both go on the same written estimate so you can compare them side by side.
Which roofing material is right for your house?
Asphalt is what most New England homes get, and for good reason. Metal sheds snow and stands up to wind. Rubber is the answer for flat and low-slope decks. Slate is the long-game choice for the house you plan to leave to your kids.
Asphalt Shingles
The default for pitched New England roofs. GAF Timberline architectural shingles installed by a GAF Master Elite crew, backed by a manufacturer lifetime guarantee, in dozens of colors. Affordable, durable, and quick to schedule when the weather is coming.
Price an Asphalt Roof →Metal Roofing
Standing seam or panel. In some cases it goes over an existing roof. It sheds snow, will not rot, and holds up in high wind. A good fit for owners who would rather not think about a roof again.
Quote a Metal Roof →Slate Roofing
Slate installed right lasts generations. We have installed them, repaired them, and replaced enough of them to know which ones are worth saving. If you have slate, call before you swap it for anything else.
Talk About Slate →Rubber (EPDM) & Flat Roofs
Flat and low-slope roofs on garages, additions, and small commercial buildings. Carlisle certified for EPDM and flat roof systems. Seamed, flashed at every penetration, and covered by a manufacturer warranty.
See Commercial Roofing →Gutters & Drainage
Seamless aluminum or copper, pitched and sized for the roof above them. Half the fascia rot we end up repairing started with a gutter that overflowed at one corner for five winters.
See Gutter Services →Ice & Snow Removal
Steam removal. No chipping, no chunks taken out of the gutter. New England winters build ice dams every year and we have been clearing them since the seventies.

We install the full GAF Timberline lineup across the UHD with Dual Shadow Line, HDZ, HD, AS II, NS, Cool Series, and American Harvest collections. Here is a sample. We bring physical samples to the estimate so you can hold them up against the house in real light.

The full lineup is available across all seven collections. Book a free inspection and we will bring samples to compare against your roof.
How does a roof replacement with Merrimack Valley Roofing work?
Four steps from the first phone call to the warranty paperwork in your hand.
Schedule the visit
You call or fill out the form. We schedule a visit to look at the roof, usually within the same week. Mention an active leak or storm damage on the call and we move it up.
Free inspection and written estimate
A foreman inspects the decking, flashing, ventilation, and gutters, then puts the findings in writing. Repair and replacement options appear on the same estimate with materials, timeline, and warranty listed.
Tear-off and install
Tarps go over the landscaping. The old roof comes off down to the deck and soft decking gets replaced. Then ice and water shield, synthetic underlayment, drip edge, step flashing, new boots, ridge vent, and new GAF shingles.
Cleanup and walk-through
A magnet rolls the yard for nails and the trailer leaves with the old roof. We walk the property with you before we go, and the warranty paperwork goes in your hands that day.
Got an active leak or storm damage?
Call and we will talk through next steps. We take emergency calls around the clock across Southern New Hampshire, Northeast Massachusetts, and Southern Maine.
(978) 662-7079How does Merrimack Valley Roofing quote a new roof?
Every roof is different. Square footage, pitch, the number of layers coming off, the condition of the decking underneath, the number of valleys and penetrations, and the material you pick all move the number.
That is why we do not publish prices online. The only honest number is the one written down after a foreman has walked the property in person.
- Free on-site estimate, no charge for the visit
- Written quote before any work gets scheduled
- Materials, timeline, and warranty listed on the estimate
- Repair and replacement options priced side by side
- Financing available, terms sorted at the estimate
- The number on the estimate is the number on the bill
What manufacturers does Merrimack Valley Roofing install?
We are a GAF Master Elite contractor, which is what lets us back every asphalt installation with the GAF manufacturer lifetime guarantee.
For commercial flat roofs we install Carlisle Sure-Seal EPDM membrane. Gutter systems come from Alcoa, Drexel, and Everlast, all three factory certified. For copper and slate work we source from the suppliers we have used for decades. Every material carries its own manufacturer warranty, and our materials and service sit under a 14-year warranty on top of that.

Roof replacement questions from MA, NH & ME homeowners
Do I need a full roof replacement, or can it be repaired?
Curling shingles across the whole roof, granules washing into the gutters, recurring leaks in more than one spot, or a roof past twenty years old usually point toward replacement. A single-area leak, a flashing failure, a pipe boot, or a storm-damaged section can often be repaired instead. The foreman inspects the decking and flashing on the visit, and when both options are realistic they go on the same written estimate so you can compare them.
How long does a roof replacement take?
Most asphalt residential replacements finish in one day. Larger homes, slate, and jobs where we have to pull damaged decking can run two to three days. You will know which one your house is at the estimate.
How does Merrimack Valley Roofing quote a new roof?
A foreman comes out, measures the roof line, checks the decking and flashing, and writes up the job. The estimate lists the materials, the timeline, and the warranty. We do not quote sight unseen, because square footage, pitch, layer count, decking condition, and material all move the number. Financing is available and the terms get sorted at the estimate.
Will the crew clean up after themselves?
Yes. Tarps cover the landscaping while we work. A magnet rolls the lawn for nails when the job is done. The trailer leaves with the old roof. You should not be picking up debris the next morning, and nobody should be pulling nails out of the yard a week later.
What is the warranty?
Materials carry a manufacturer-backed lifetime guarantee through GAF. Our materials and service are covered under a 14-year warranty. The paperwork is in your hands before we drive away. Family-run since 1976, so the warranty is not coming from a company that disappears next spring.
Do you handle storm damage?
Yes. Call and we will get out to look at it, and we take emergency calls around the clock. The inspection findings go in writing the same as any other estimate, so you have a written record of what the storm did to the roof.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. We work with financing partners so a new roof does not have to come out of one paycheck. Terms get sorted at the estimate stage so there are no surprises later.
Are you licensed and insured?
Fully licensed and insured. We carry general liability and workers' compensation. License and insurance documentation is available on request before any work is scheduled.
What areas do you cover?
Southern New Hampshire, Northeast Massachusetts, and Southern Maine, centered on the Merrimack Valley and the Sandown, Kingston, and Plaistow area. Salem, Derry, Exeter, Portsmouth, Hampton, Methuen, Haverhill, Lawrence, North Andover, and Amesbury are all regular territory. See the full service area list.
