Financing Options for Siding Installation & Repair

New England weather is the toughest test a siding job can get. Forty-plus freeze-thaw cycles a year, salt air on the coast, ice on the gable ends, wind off the ocean and pollen baked into the south side every spring. Bad siding stops looking good in five years and stops protecting the house in ten. Good siding does both jobs for thirty.

We have been doing exterior work in the Merrimack Valley, Southern New Hampshire, and Maine since 1976. Full siding replacements, panel repairs, and the associated carpentry that almost always comes with it, meaning fascia, rake boards, and the plywood substrate behind the existing siding. It is the same crew and the same standard we bring to residential roofing and commercial roofing. Every job carries manufacturer-backed guarantees.

Why Your Siding Matters

What good siding actually does for your house.

Siding is the layer between your home and a New England year. When it works, you stop thinking about it. When it fails, the house tells on it fast.

Weather Protection

Good siding sheds water, wind, and snow before it reaches the sheathing or the framing. The cost of replacing siding is always less than the cost of repairing what failed siding lets in.

Energy Efficiency

Properly installed siding with insulation and house wrap behind it cuts air infiltration, holds heat in the winter and out in the summer, and lowers the bill at both ends of the year.

Curb Appeal & Value

The first thing a buyer or an appraiser sees is the siding. New siding resets the visible age of the house from the curb and is one of the exterior projects that tends to hold its value best at resale.

Stops Hidden Damage

Loose, cracked, or warped siding is a slow leak you cannot see. Water gets behind the panels, soaks into sheathing, rots the framing, and finds the insulation. Catching it early is a siding job. Catching it late is a renovation.

Repair Or Replace

Not every siding problem needs the whole house done.

Two different jobs, two different quotes. A foreman will tell you which one your house actually needs, and will say so if a repair is the right call.

Siding Repair

Damaged panels and storm work

When the damage is contained and the structure underneath is sound, a repair puts the house back together for a fraction of a full replacement.

  • Wind and storm damaged panels
  • Cracked, loose, or buckled sections
  • Rotted trim and soft spots at the corners
  • Isolated water entry around windows and doors
  • 24/7 emergency response for active damage

Siding Replacement

Full tear-off and new install

When panels are failing across multiple walls, or the substrate behind them has gone soft, replacing the system is the only fix that lasts.

  • Widespread warping, fading, or brittleness
  • Repeated repairs on the same elevations
  • Soft plywood or rot found behind the panels
  • Full exterior refresh ahead of a sale
  • Manufacturer-backed guarantees on the new install

Associated Carpentry

Siding installation often involves work behind the panels.

Siding sits on top of a structure. If the underlying components are weathered or compromised, addressing them is part of doing the siding work correctly. Our siding repair and installation services include the associated carpentry that often comes with a project.

  • Fascia boardsInstallation or replacement of fascia behind the gutter line and along the roof edge.
  • Rake boardsReplacement of weathered or damaged rake boards along the gable ends of the home.
  • Plywood substrateSoft or damaged plywood behind the existing siding replaced before new material is installed.
  • In-house crewsThe carpentry is handled by the same team doing the siding installation, on the same project, with the same manufacturer-backed warranties.

Seasonal Maintenance

How to keep siding working through a New England year.

Even premium siding needs eyes on it twice a year. Catching a popped panel or a leaking trim joint in season is a 20-minute fix. Catching it after the freeze is a wall.

Spring

Wash off winter salt, mildew, and pollen with a soft rinse. Walk the perimeter and check for panels that popped, loose trim, or any seam where ice movement opened a gap.

Summer

Check the south and west sides for sun fading or warping. Verify all seams are sealed at the window and door flashing. Trim back shrubs that touch the siding.

Fall

Walk the perimeter again before the first freeze. Seal any cracks, check for pest entry points, and make sure your gutters and downspouts are pushing water away from the walls.

Winter Watch

Ice and snow against the siding are normal. Ice working under panels is not. If you see daylight where a panel meets trim or sheathing, call before the next thaw. Heavy buildup at the roof edge is worth a look at ice and snow removal too.

How we quote a siding job.

Every siding project is different. Square footage, material, profile, color line, the amount of carpentry behind the existing siding, window and door count, and trim detail all move the number. That is why we do not publish prices online. The only honest number is the one written down after a foreman has walked your house in person and checked what is actually behind the old panels.

Here is what you can count on: a free on-site estimate, a written quote before any work begins, and financing options if you want them. We provide siding repair as well as full replacements, so if your project is suited to a repair we can quote that as well.

Common Questions

What homeowners ask before they pick up the phone.

The questions we get on the estimate call, answered straight.

What siding services does Merrimack Valley Roofing & Gutter provide?

We provide full siding installation, siding repair, and the associated carpentry that often comes with a siding project, including installation or replacement of fascia boards, rake boards, and plywood substrate. Every installation carries manufacturer-backed guarantees. Family-run since 1976, BBB A+ Accredited, fully licensed and insured, with crews across NH, MA, and Southern Maine.

What are the signs my home needs siding repair or replacement?

The common ones are panels that have warped or buckled, cracked or loose sections after a storm, and trim that has gone soft at the corners. Inside the house, watch for paint or wallpaper peeling on an exterior wall, which usually means moisture is getting behind the panels. Mildew growth on one elevation and a heating bill that jumped without a rate change are both worth a look as well.

Isolated damage on one or two walls is usually a repair. Damage showing up across several elevations, or soft plywood found behind the panels, usually means replacement is the fix that lasts.

How does Merrimack Valley Roofing & Gutter quote a siding installation?

Every siding project is quoted on-site, in writing, before any work begins. A foreman walks the entire exterior, looks at the existing siding and trim, talks through options for materials, colors, and finishes with you, and leaves with a written estimate. We do not publish prices online because the honest number depends on square footage, the materials selected, profile, color, window and door count, and the amount of carpentry repair behind the existing siding. The estimate is free, there is no obligation, and the price on the written quote is the price.

Can you repair siding instead of replacing the whole house?

Yes. We provide siding repair services for damaged panels, storm damage, and isolated sections. Whether repair or full replacement makes sense depends on the extent of the damage and the condition of the underlying structure. A foreman will walk through the options on the on-site estimate and quote the work appropriately.

Do you repair storm damaged siding in New Hampshire and Massachusetts?

Yes. Wind-damaged and storm-damaged siding is one of the most common repairs we get called on across Southern NH and Northeast MA. That work often includes replacing wind-torn panels, addressing rotted sheathing found underneath, and resealing where water got in. We offer 24/7 emergency service for active damage, so call as soon as you see it rather than waiting for the next storm to widen the opening.

Do you do the associated carpentry too, or do I need a separate carpenter?

Yes. Our in-house siding team handles the associated carpentry on the same project, including installation or replacement of fascia boards, rake boards, and plywood substrate. One crew, one project, manufacturer-backed warranties on the installation.

What warranty comes with siding installation?

All siding installations carry manufacturer-backed product guarantees. Specific warranty terms, meaning length, what is covered, and whether it transfers, depend on the product line and are reviewed in writing on the estimate before you sign anything.

Do you offer financing on siding projects?

Yes. Financing is available on siding and exterior projects. Monthly payment options are reviewed on the estimate so you know what the numbers look like before you commit.

Can you do the siding and the roof at the same time?

Yes, and it is often the cheaper way to do it. Staging is already up, the crew is already on site, and the transition details where the roof meets the siding get handled by one company instead of two pointing at each other later. If you are weighing both, ask about roof replacement on the same estimate visit.

Do you offer emergency service for siding damage?

Yes. We offer 24/7 emergency service for storm damage and urgent repairs across our service area in Southern NH, Northeast MA, and Southern Maine. Call (978) 662-7079 day or night.
